Docks was inspired by a visitto Stowe Stree Gallery in Stowe, VT when I lived close by. At the time I was taking my first woodblock carving class at Burlington City Arts and I happened upon Nori Morimoto's work. It greatly inspired me to draw an inspirted rendition on my newly ordered Shina wood while watching my kids and husband romp around in the front yard. It was such a special time for exploring creativity!
Later, taking a class at Shelburne Arts and Crafts school, I took this carving and imprinted it into porcelain. It was there that I name the piece docks. The instructor said it looked like dock over water and reminded him of his summers in Maine.
